01. BCBA/LBA Clinic Coordinator | Norfolk

Compass provides individualized, data-driven, compassionate ABA therapy to families throughout Virginia. We are seeking a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) to join us as a Clinic Coordinator in our Norfolk location to further our mission as we support children with developmental challenges and their families.

Successful candidates must be a BCBA and be actively licensed as a Behavior Analyst by the Virginia Board of Medicine. At least two years of direct clinical experience working with children and adolescents diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders is preferred, with some of this experience having been in a clinic-based setting. Ideal candidates also have experience working collaboratively with a team in situations that require strong communication skills and non-reactive decision-making.

Position Details:

The Clinic Coordinator will manage and oversee clinical and administrative responsibilities in the Compass Clinic. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing in-vivo guidance, training, and ongoing monitoring to clinicians who are working 1:1 in the clinic in collaboration with the Program Supervisor;
  • Exercising sound clinical judgment throughout clinic sessions;
  • Managing and implementing clinic responsibilities to ensure client and clinician success during clinic sessions;
  • Analyzing, assessing, and communicating needs to enhance the quality of clinic services, including supporting the overall advancement of the clinic.

Other Responsibilities:

Operational: Develop effective and efficient systems, understand all clinic procedures, analyze and assess clinic needs, and attend to the basic needs of the clinic (scheduling, cleaning up, managing supplies, etc…).

Clinical: Understand client protocols to provide guidance to clinicians, occasional 1:1 work with clients, ensure resource development, and facilitate client and parent training groups.

Clinician Development: Ensure the continued development of clinicians by providing individualized feedback and providing trainings and competency checks to clinicians.

    02. BCBA/LBA Supervisor

    Successful candidates will be BCBAs and have, or be eligible for, licensure as a licensed behavior analyst (LBA) in Virginia within 1 month of hire. They will ideally have experience working with children and/or adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Supervisory experience is helpful, but not required.

    Students who have completed coursework and supervision for BCBA strongly encouraged to apply.

    Position details:

    • Our supervisors manage a caseload of 4-5 behavior support clinicians, who each have 2-3 clients that are seen predominantly in the home setting.
    • Supervisors meet with families at the start of treatment, help the family identify the goals for the client, and conceptualize each case with consultation.
    • Supervisors then provide training to caregivers in the home/community, and manage the implementation of interventions in the home, community, and clinic (as needed), and provide care coordination/documentation to support treatment.
    • Supervisors use evidence-based ABA and complementary practices (e.g., motivational interviewing) to maintain family engagement in services and adjust the treatment plan to maximize efficacy for the clients/families on his/her/their caseload.
    • All supervisors receive weekly support and consultation, as well as bi-monthly groups to support cohesiveness of the site and continued professional/clinical development.

      03. ABA Behavior Technician

      Compass is a community-focused multi-disciplinary counseling agency providing clinical services to children, adolescents and adults in the Hampton Roads area. We are currently seeking individuals who have a passion for working with children with special needs in our Connections ABA program.

      As a professional in our program, you will:

      • Provide home-based ABA services to individuals diagnosed with Autism and/ or related developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
      • Work directly with families to support them in learning interventions and improving client behaviors
      • Collaborate with other professionals from various agencies in the community including: social services, schools, community service boards, physicians, etc.
      • Work one-on-one with clients and families in their homes and in the community to support them in learning functional communication skills, play skills, self-help skills, and safety skills.
      • Utilize interventions specifically designed for each child, record daily progress, maintain client records, and collect data on clients’ goals/ objectives.

      Qualifications and Skills

      • A Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field such as psychology, child development, communication disorders, behavior analysis, special education, or other human services fields is highly preferred
      • A minimum of 1 year of direct experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental delays is required.
      • Candidates must be available to work with clients and their families during after-school and evening hours.
      • Candidates must be punctual, responsible, patient, friendly and motivated.
      • Candidates must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.

        04. Intensive In-Home Clinician (QMHP-C)

        We are seeking motivated professionals for Full Time Intensive In-Home Clinician positions. This program is designed to stabilize, strengthen, and support at-risk children and families through community-based counseling, collaboration, and skill building. The Intensive In-Home program provides excellent training, supervision, experience and support to bolster your career. Compass offers Full Time benefits and reimbursements.

        Free Residency Supervision for full time clinicians seeking Residency in Counseling and Residency in Social Work in our Intensive In-Home program. The Residency program provides free, on-site individual and group supervision toward LPC and LCSW licensure. Residency Supervisors are available to provide guidance with initial submission and documentation.

        Candidates for the Intensive In-Home clinician position must meet criteria to be a Qualified Mental Health Professional — Child (QMHP-C). A bachelor’s or master’s degree in human services or a related field (e.g. counseling, psychology, social work) and at least 1500 hours of documented clinical experience with children or adolescents who have a DSM diagnosis is required for the QMHP-C designation.

        This position requires registration with the Board of Counseling as a QMHP-Child. Candidates who have already completed the registration process are preferred.

          05. Mental Health Skill-building Clinician (QMHP-A)

          We are seeking motivated professionals for our Mental Health Skill-building Program. This program is designed to be goal-directed training to enable adult clients with mental illness achieve and maintain independence and community stability.

          This is a community-based position and involves training that is focused on the following areas with clients:

          • Functional skills and appropriate behavior related to the individual’s health & safety
          • Activities of daily living
          • Use of community resources
          • Assistance with medication management
          • Monitoring health, nutrition, and physical condition
