01. Behavior Therapist: High Functioning Autism

We are currently seeking motivated professionals with interest and experience in working with children and adolescents with High Functioning Autism.

This position is designed to provide stabilization, mental health interventions, skills training, and family systems interventions for children and adolescents diagnosed with high functioning autism, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and other co-morbid diagnoses.

Clinicians will receive specialized training focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavioral Therapy, and family systems interventions. LPC Residency supervision is available for qualified candidates.

Compass provides services in all seven cities of Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, Hampton, and Suffolk.

Candidates for this position must meet criteria to be a Qualified Mental Health Professional — Child (QMHP-C). A bachelor’s or master’s degree in human services or a related field (e.g. counseling, psychology, social work) and at least 1500 hours of documented clinical experience with children or adolescents who have a DSM diagnosis is required for the QMHP-C designation.

This position requires registration with the Board of Counseling as a QMHP-Child. Candidates who have already completed the registration process are preferred.

At a minimum, candidates should initiate the registration process prior to interviewing with Compass.

02. Intensive In-Home Clinician

We are seeking motivated professionals for Full Time Intensive In-Home Clinician positions. This program is designed to stabilize, strengthen, and support at-risk children and families through community-based counseling, collaboration, and skill building. The Intensive In-Home program provides excellent training, supervision, experience and support to bolster your career. Compass offers Full Time benefits and reimbursements.

Free Residency Supervision for full time clinicians seeking Residency in Counseling and Residency in Social Work in our Intensive In-Home program. The Residency program provides free, on-site individual and group supervision toward LPC and LCSW licensure. Residency Supervisors are available to provide guidance with initial submission and documentation.

03. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA/ LBA)

Compass Youth & Family Services is seeking Licensed Behavior Analysts to join our multi-disciplinary team in our Hampton Roads office. Compass is a community-focused agency providing clinical home-based ABA services to children, adolescents and adults with special needs and developmental challenges.

We serve throughout all seven cities in the Hampton Roads area- Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth & Suffolk

We have assembled a team of Behavior Analysts, mental health professionals, and behavior technicians who have the education, experience, and tools to support families in addressing many of life’s most difficult challenges. Compass is highly regarded and has a positive, professional, supportive and fun work environment.

The Connections ABA program provides services for clients ages 2-21 years old, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental delays. Our clients typically present with treatment needs in the following areas:

  • Communication
  • Safety skills
  • Interfering behaviors
  • Activities of daily living
  • Family support needs

Responsibilities and Duties

This position will require the ability to provide guidance, direction, and training for a team of behavior technicians providing direct services in clients’ homes.

Licensed Behavior Analysts have regular contact with our clients and their families and caseloads are employee driven to ensure quality services. This position includes both home-based and office-based work. LBAs have an office work environment to facilitate supervision with assigned clinicians, provide trainings, and to create client resources.

Qualifications and Skills

  • All candidates for this position must be Board Certified Behavior Analysts and have, or are eligible for, licensure as a Licensed Behavior Analyst in Virginia.
  • Candidates must have at least one year of direct experience as well as a passion for working with special needs children and their families.
  • Candidates must exhibit excellent leadership qualities and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ideal candidates should have supervisory experience.

04. Mental Health Skill-building Clinician

We are seeking motivated professionals for our Mental Health Skill-building Program. This program is designed to be goal-directed training to enable adult clients with mental illness achieve and maintain independence and community stability.

This is a community-based position and involves training that is focused on the following areas with clients:

  • Functional skills and appropriate behavior related to the individual’s health & safety
  • Activities of daily living
  • Use of community resources
  • Assistance with medication management
  • Monitoring health, nutrition, and physical condition

This position requires registration with the Board of Counseling as a QMHP-Adult. Candidates who have already completed the registration process are preferred.
